This floor is an unfinished product and must be finished after installation. This #2 common grade contains sound natural and manufacturing variations including knot holes, open wormholes, and other open characters along with prominent color variations.
Manufacturing variations include drying characters and machining irregularities. No. 2 Common is most desirable for applications where numerous notable character marks and prominent color contrast is desired. 5" wide solid hardwood flooring is more prone to seasonal width variation (expansion and contraction) than narrow strips (2-1/4"), because wood moves across its grain rather than its length, meaning wider boards accumulate a larger cumulative dimensional change. The pictures and definition we provided were taken from the National Wood Flooring Association, and an actual bundle of material from our inventory.
